Kick Start Cart in Action:

There are two basic methods to set up Kick Start Cart.

• The first is the add to cart method, which allows your visitors to visit your website and shop through all of your products.
• The second is the Buy now link, which takes visitors directly to your check out.

The cart can be setup so that your site uses one style or mixes the styles. Generally speaking, the buy now is best used with clearance items or special promotions.

I’ve been working on project, involving making a number of MP3 files available for purchase and download for a client. As always I decided to use KickStartCart (1ShoppingCart.com).

Unfortunately I ran into a slight problem!

The system was crashing on some uploads and not others. I’m not going to tell you not to use KickStartCart, but rather, supply an answer for this problem.

Depending on the bandwidth your Internet provider is giving you, your maximum file size will be between 4 MB and 10-20 MB (They suggest closer to 4).

My problem – 18 MB MP3 files.

My answer — use an audio program such as Sound Forge to resample your MP3 Files.

The end result may not be Bose^TM quality, but the over playback should be fine.

Follow these simple steps:

Resample the files to the lowest Frequency possible without Degrading Playback quality. If the files are still too big, try adjusting the Frequency lower until you get the best possible fit. In my case a 17MB file became 4MB.

In my opinion the best route to take if you need a payment gateway and merchant account for online sales. Low monthly fees, Low %, Low per transaction fees.

• Merchant Express – Merchant Account & Gateway

Processing gateways give you the ability to accept payments online through your website’s shopping cart.

The gateway works as a middleman between you and your bank. It collects the funds and then transfers them to your account for a small percentage, monthly fee and minimal per item charge (These rates tend to be fairly standardized).

When choosing your gateway, be certain that it will allow you to require the CVV2 number and billing address for your visitors credit cards. this will help protect you from fraudulent charges.

Not all gateways are compatible with all shopping carts, so verify with your web developer prior to filing your application paperwork.

If you use Kick Start Cart for your e-commerce solution, all of the following Gateways are compatible with your system

Kick Start Cart has a new field called Transaction Key under the gateway setup for authorize.net. What is it, Where do I get it?

To obtain the Transaction Key:

Log into your Authorize.Net account at: https://secure.authorize.net
Click on Settings and Profile
Under the Security heading, Click on Obtain Transaction Key
When obtaining a new transaction key, you may choose to disable the old transaction key.

1. Type in your Secret Answer (the answer to your secret question was configured when you activated your account).
2. To disable the old transaction key, check the Disable Old Transaction Key box. Note: If the Disable Old Transaction Key box is not checked, the old transaction key will automatically expire in 24 hours.
3. Click Submit

Be sure to store the transaction key in a very safe place. Do not share it with anyone, as it is used to protect your transactions.

For Simple Integration Method (SIM), the transaction key is also used to create a unique transaction fingerprint. Using the transaction key, and a few pieces of information specific to the transaction, a script on the merchant’s web server uses a complex mathematical algorithm to generate a document fingerprint. This fingerprint is submitted along with the transaction information to the gateway. Before accepting the transaction, the gateway, using the transaction key and the same information specific to that transaction, recreates the unique transaction fingerprint. If the fingerprint generated by the gateway matches the fingerprint submitted with the transaction by the merchant, the transaction is accepted for authorization. If the fingerprints do not match, the origin of the transaction cannot be authenticated, and the transaction is rejected.

The system-generated transaction key is similar to a password and is used to authenticate requests submitted to the gateway. If a request cannot be authenticated using the transaction key, the request is rejected. You may generate a new transaction key as often as you wish.

Express Checkout Only or PayPal as An Additional Mark Only Option:

I. I do not have an existing PayPal account:
1. Go to https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_registration-run
2. Choose to create either a Premier or Business account
3. Choose country and click on Continue
4. Premier Account Sign Up:

a. Fill out your personal information
b. Enter in your email address
c. Choose your security questions
d. Accept the user agreement and legal policy
e. Type in your security measure
f. Click on Sign Up

5. Business Account Sign Up:

a. Fill out your business information
b. Fill in the business owner contact information
c. Fill in your business owner address and click on Continue
d. Enter in your email address
e. Choose your security questions
f. Accept the user agreement and legal policy
g. Type in your security measure
h. Click on Sign Up

6. Be sure to confirm your address by adding a credit card to your funding source
7. Verify your email address by checking your email address and follow instructions in the PayPal email address
8. Add a bank account to your funding source to be a Verified member. This process may take several business days. Follow the instructions on the PayPal site to add a bank account.
9. Go to section III to setup your account configuration

II. I have an existing Personal account with PayPal
1. Go to https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_registration-run
2. Click on the Upgrade your Account link
3. Click on the Upgrade Now button
4. If your account was a personal account, you will get a choice to upgrade to a Premier or Business account.
5. Choose the type of account to upgrade to and follow instructions.
6. If you were a Premier account holder, you will be sent to the Business account upgrade. Follow the instructions.
7. Follow Steps 6-8 in Section I if you have not done so
8. Go to section III to setup your account configuration

III. I have a Premier or Business account with PayPal
1. Go to https://www.paypal.com and sign in
2. Click on the Profile section under the My Account Tab
3. Under the Account Information column, you should see the API Access link, click on that link (if you do not see it then your account is not Premier or Business, go back to Sections I or II)
4. In the API Access page, click on the first link, €œAPI Access Authorization€
5. Click on the Add button
6. You will need to fill out some information:

YOUR CART PROVIDERS API ACCOUNT NAME: sales_api3.1shoppingcart.com

7. Check on the following checkboxes for the following APIs:

a. AddressVerify
b. SetExpressCheckout
c. GetExpressCheckoutDetails
d. DoExpressCheckoutPayment
e. DoCapture
f. DoReauthorization
g. DoVoid

8. Click on the Save Button
9. Log into your shopping cart account.
10. From your shopping cart account go to Cart Setup >> Gateway Setup
11. Select Express Checkout from the PayPal Options
12. Click Save Changes
